our history

Rowandale got its start when German-speaking immigrants from Europe, seeking a better life after World War II, arrived in Canada in the early 1950s. They started what was originally known as Third German Baptist Church in rented facilities on Furby Street. After a year there, the congregation purchased a small building at 333 Alexander Street. By 1965 the church had moved to its present location at 162 Rowandale Avenue. We made a short video on our 60th Anniversary that gives an overview of our history. Click on the video to hear from some original members what it was like.
